Python 2 is getting rapidly deprecated. It would be helpful to support python 3 before python 2 support is gone.

I believe original Google project (https://gerrit.googlesource.com/git-repo/) should be upgraded first.

The google repo version now supports python 3, would it be possible to update this to the newest version of the original Google project?
