Let's detect the simulator you are running and so have different 'TARGET_SIM_VERI, TARGET_SIM_QUESTA, TARGET_SIM_VCS'. So, the apps can go in different branches of execution and there is a justification for why some apps are not running when simulating with VERILATOR etc (flash model etc).
