some problems in gradle build

1.) the referred library junit.4.12 triggers a vulnerablitity warning in 2024 IntelliJ. junit.4.13 is recommended as replacement

2.) the gradle script uses the MavenDeployment plugin, which seemed to have been removed in Gradle 6.3 (according to a quick web-search).

Thanks for the report. Both is true, although they are separate issues.

VectorGraphics2D is currently unmaintained. We're looking to change this, which is why VG2D is being relicensed to EPL (see #79).

If you would like to contribute, I suggest starting with fixing the Gradle build. The MavenDevelopment plugin has been superseded with https://docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/publishing_maven.html.
