I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'd be willing to investigate. Would you merge a fix if I developed one or is this extension unmaintained?

It additionally sounds like Firefox currently only supports a limited number of "recommended" extensions on Android, so we'd need to nominate the extension or wait until wider availability.

Luckily it sounds like a launch of all extensions is coming very soon (possibly within the next month). However, it looks like the persistence of the background page may need to be tweaked:
