Parse tables without header

Open MWWorks opened this issue 9 years ago • 8 comments

A table header seems required to trigger table parsing. This post suggests that ParseDown Extra supports it, but it doesn't seem to? Admittedly it doesn't seem to be part of the Markdown Extra spec - it would be handy, though.

It does seem like it might be handy. I'll think about it, but I can give no promises.

No promises required! Many thanks for what is a super-awesome tool as is; purely just a suggestion if it proves opportune :)

I would like to have that option, too.

Hello there I also wouldn't mind being able to specify tables without headers. Sometimes they come in handy!

There's a PR open for this (https://github.com/erusev/parsedown/pull/580).

GitHub flavoured markdown actually already has a concept of bodyless tables (i.e. neither body rows, nor <tbody> is generated). If possible it would be good to get headerless tables standardised there too, I opened a spec issue (https://github.com/github/cmark-gfm/issues/91) but unfortunately I'm not sure how active the spec repo is any more.
