Did you SAVE the settings after adding new tags?

It is working for me but I will do some more testing.

Mozilla Firefox 89.0b4 (64-bit), Microsoft Windows 10.0.19042.928 — indeed, the added tags appear in the sidebar with a long delay. I had to wait about a minute. Perhaps this does not happen after a certain time, but after some unobvious user action. For example, closing and reopening the sidebar, or switching the sidebar mode to, for example, bookmarks and back to "Edit".
