 Quick explanation as I also found this pretty stupid. On Debian based distro, Firefox distribute Firefox-nightly (And nightly builds of thunderbird too) via their own ppa, called firefox-trunk https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-daily/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages...
 (This config)(I have the blur option activated)  BUt my firefox looks like this

Urlbar was completely transparent in the solid color version. Changed urlbar-background display to different variable for solid and blurred. Blurred behavior unchanged, Solid now displays full background for urlbar dropdown.
