Update README.md with script version-specific info

Open seltzered opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Add note that the script was updated using GNUCash 4.x .

Based on spending time trying to use the script again and both myself and another person not having success with GNUCash 5.x it seems important to note this for now.

@seltzered - were you able to get this script to work with GNUCash 4.x? I just saw your note and run into errors as listed at

https://github.com/erikmack/qb-escape/issues/5

I tried using GNUCash 4.13 using your sample.iif and it doesnt seem to work for me.

@bobburgers7 Off the top of my head, I can't remember, but you may want to also see this discussion: https://www.reddit.com/r/GnuCash/comments/13lh6vn/comment/kee3mb7/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Are you saying this sample file ( https://gist.github.com/seltzered/b124ba5c4f118d46dec4cc3da1febe06 ) is having issues?

thanks for the tip! I reviewed those and it was definitely helpful.

Yes - that sample file for me is having issues for some reason. I get the weird .LCK error. I went ahead and did an export as detailed of all my accounts in the README and ran the script on that and it worked fine.

I forked the project and made a minor revision to the qb_iif_to_gc.py file because I was using an existing gnucash file and not having it create a new one. It now works well for me. See changes here:
