Tweets of muted user account keep being displayed in Search
Describe the bug There's a Twitter account that happens to use a certain keyword in both its handle (as a prefix) and name. Muting it (mute symbol turns blue after clicking on it) either does not work at all (after a refresh, the symbol is white again) or at least not as expected.
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Create a new search containing the single keyword "Gitea" (that's a self-hosted Git service).
- Browse through the tweets in the newly created column until you find tweets containing photos, hashtags and contact information (phone#) which are clearly not related to forementioned service (posted on a daily basis, so details w.r.t. name/handle should not be needed here).
Expected behavior Muting said account should not display its tweets anymore (at least, not after a refresh).
Desktop (please complete the following information):
- OS: Linux
- Browser: Google Chrome
- Version: 92.0.x.y (applied to previous versions as well)
Confirming on:
- BTD: Up to and incl 4.4.4
- OS: Windows 10 Pro (19042.1288, x64)
- Browser: Firefox 93.0 (64-bit)
I've also checked and confirmed "Safe search settings" (Hide sensitive content
and Remove blocked and muted accounts
) were enabled, which had contributed to the issue in the past on other clients.
Okay so I think I understand how to repro and I will need to look into it but here are my thoughts:
- User mutes are synced with your account's settings
- I obviously don't know how Twitter's search works but I guessing they don't (and probably can't at that scale) filter the search depending on what users you mute
- I have no idea if TweetDeck can actually access your user mutes in a way that would let me somehow patch this in 😬
