Not able to terminate experiment during adaptive localization

What happened? (You can include a screenshot if it helps explain)

When running es_mda with adaptive localization the update step takes a significant amount of time. Pressing the terminate experiment button during this step does not seem to do anything.

What did you expect to happen?

Would expect the experiment to stop.

steps to reproduce

run snake oil with es mda and adaptive localization and try to terminate during the update step. Might need larger case e.g. drogon, to reproduce if snake oil is too fast.
