Unfortunately issues beyond usability
Hey Braden,
I don't know exactly when it started but at some point around version 4.3 I stopped updating because I was happy with how whispering was working. Then I saw with 5.0 that you added new cool features that I wanted to experience. Ever since I updated, Whispering has been very unstable. I updated to every new version in hopes that it would become stable again. I also uninstalled whispering completely and reverted back to 4.3, but the issues remained even there. So it might not even be connected to the specific version.
The last time I used one of the 5.x versions, mmost of the time the OpenAI server was reportedly not reachable. Also, there were always three instances of whispering running at the same time in my tray. Additionally, I had to create a new API token almost every time I restarted my computer, only to use it for a few times successfully and then see the lack of connectivity to the OpenAI server - error again.
It's difficult for me to pinpoint or be useful here other than that I use Windows 10. I'm using a couple of other software that offers similar functionality with whisper transcriptions, and they never have these issues. So, I fear it is some problem with whispering itself.
This issue is present in the whispering software on Windows 10 but also on the Chrome extension itself.
The only place where whispering seems to work relatively stable is on the whispering website itself. But of course this is not a pleasant solution since the unique benefit of whispering is to use it via shortcuts wherever the text should go.
Since it's free, I've only been using the Groq API since it became available. I have no issues with the desktop version.
Hey thanks @rkhrkh! I feel stupid for asking, but I struggle to find where to signup for Groq. Can you point me in the right direction?
https://console.groq.com/
I can’t remember exactly where I clicked to get the API, but it is free. I believe it was on the link mentioned above. Start clicking around there, and you should find a place to generate the API.
Once you have obtained the API, simply put it into Whispering, and you will be ready to utilize the Groq API.

Perfect, thank you, @rkhrkh . Much appreciated.
