I have to restart the app every couple of hours.
After a couple of hours and maybe a few times of putting the computer to sleep, whispering correctly records but then not process the recording and instead only output the word "you".
I then have the choice to go into the recordings and reprocess each every time or simply restart the app and redo my most recent recording, which fixes the problem.
Before the recent bunch of updates this was not necessary and whispering would reliably work in the background as long as it was open.
@rick-urb when you use Whispering after a break, is there a red dot that is showing? It's possible that it's recycling the media stream to attempt to make initializing recoridng faster, but it needs to be restarted and refreshed after a long sleep. If that doesn't fix the issue, do you remember which version it worked the last?
Unfortunately, I don't exactly remember which one, which version worked last because I diligently updated the app every time an update came out. And because some days, sometimes there was an update every day almost, it's hard to remember. But I could go back and try out the older versions.
The red dot is showing in these moments, yes. So it's probably what you're assuming. Maybe you could make it so that the red dot for faster recording automatically deactivates after a certain period of time or when the laptop was in sleep mode.
But in general, I just want to let you know that it happens occasionally, but it is not a big pain and to restart the app is an easy workaround.
(... which I want to take a moment to highlight anyway: I love how much you invest into this super cool free software right now, but it is well past the point of good enough and more than reliable enough. The work you've put into a free software like this is already well past the point of necessary. So thank you once again.)
MacBook M1 Pro (16 GB Version) - Whispering 3.4.0: Performance Issues After Extended Use
While using Whispering on my MacBook M1 Pro with 16 GB of RAM, I occasionally encounter the same issue: the application becomes unresponsive or returns only the word “you” as output. I observe this phenomenon mostly when my device has not been restarted for an extended period.
It is likely that the cause of this issue lies within the operating system and is not specific to Whispering. My workflow involves having numerous programs open simultaneously, as well as many tabs in the Google Chrome browser. After several days of continuous operation without restarting my MacBook, I also experience delays or malfunctions in other applications.

I finally returned to development, and hopefully this is fixed after the huge rewrite during the v7 release.
A lot has changed since then, but there still can be problems. Please reopen a new issue if the issue still persists!
