Destination folder already exists.

Hello Derek,

Looks like we have some problems updating the themes. We got lots of inquries via support having the same issue:

Destination folder already exists. /var/www/vhosts/19/177506/webspace/httpdocs/pinknova.com/wp-content/themes/mrtailor/

Theme install failed.

Is there any know issue about that?

Looks like the plugin is showing "install theme" instead of "update theme". I am assuming for that reason it cannot overwrite that folder.

Thanks! Adrian.

Later edit:

It doesn't seem to be a permission issues. Already tested that on a few sites. It looks like the theme isn't actually installed, until you click install, then it find the existing folder.

Thanks! Adrian.

I cannot test this scenario from my localhost. I need access to your username/api info plus knowledge of how your system is setup. Do you have time to chat today via email?

I ran into this issue today. For me, the scenario is as follows:

  • Installed Zeus theme years ago, before knowing anything about this tool
  • Today, wanted to update the theme, and installed the envato plugin
  • The tool doesn't seem to be aware that I have the theme installed previously, as it asks me to "install" rather than update

Same issue for me in the plugins tab. For versioning reasons it's a bad solution to delete and reinstall. I suppose after 5 years no one will clean it up.
