We actually run that same command through [Craft's Garbage Collection system](https://github.com/verbb/formie/blob/c68643dde2ef67d75ab810fd4a06b07a6f63b05b/src/Formie.php#L333), and calling `craft gc` will force garbage collection to run. I'll investigate further, but at least on my end...

Note that getting submissions _into_ the garbage collection system isn't something that's guaranteed based on how Craft's garbage collection works. But running `formie/gc/prune-data-retention-submissions` should enforce that more if you're keen...

I cannot seem to get access to a developer account (they no longer offer this), so taking it off the roadmap.

Well, I have no idea when/how it happened, but Pinterest's Business/Developer accounts are seemingly back, which puts this back on the roadmap.
