Source code migration from GitHub to Codeberg possible?
Could the source code be migrated to Codeberg or would there be other dependencies besides the fact that GitHub belongs to Microsoft that would prevent a switch from GitHub to Codeberg?
Codeberg is a Gitea-based FLOSS alternative to GitHub. The servers are operated within the EU (Germany).
Thats the same (not so great) reason why we don't move to something like GitLab (even as it has the definitely better CI): That means that it would be much harder for other people to find the Engelsystem repo and collaborate on it (as in: just another account is required)
Could one perhaps (for the time being) make a mirror from GitHub to Codeberg (and from Codeberg to GitHub?) to enable people who do not want to use GitHub due to the fact that it belongs to Microsoft, but rather Codeberg, for example, to still be able to participate in the project?
Would Codeberg (meanwhile) be an alternative to GitHUb for the "Engelsystem"-project?
Perhaps the community on Mastodon could be asked about this?
We also have a mirror on n the GitLab instance of chaos.expert/engelsystem/engelsystem so imho that should be "enough" decentralization for now :D
