up/down move the cursor in the buffer instead of doing next/previous command

Not sure if this is a part of my emacs setup or if it's something in inf-mongo - is there a way to fix this? I don't ever use up/down to move the cursor (C-p and C-n) so I want it to go through command history

I had the same problem. After installing some packages for my Xubuntu 13.04 with apt-get install python-mode pymacs python-ropemacs M-p and M-n work with history so the problem seems to have something to with the emacs installation. My emacs is from package emacs24.
