[Bug]: Ps5 Controller works only partially

hello there, first of all thanks a ton for providing such a nice mod/tweak to Outlrun 2006 :) One thing I noticed, when I setup my PS5 Controller inside the game it kind of works until I close the game. on restart, everything is gone I I can not steer with controller and had to use keyboard again. the thing is, even when I configure stuff in game, the buttons behave kind of strange and as soon as I got controller working, no keyboard inputs (return for select, esc, function keys) seem to not work anymore.
can you provide some support, on how to configure PS4 or 5 Controller correctly? or will this work only for xbox controllers?

The in-game control settings are pretty bugged unfortunately, heard that some were able to add the game to steam and configure controls through steam input though, but haven't really tried that myself yet.
ok, thanks ! maybe I should try this. Alternatively I have a FFB Wheel - maybe I will try this as well
ok, the steam thing works perfectly ! :)
but now, I realized, the game randomly freezes for a split second - any idea, how to solved this?
