Games that share OR2 engine/code?
Does anyone know whether any other AM2 games might share similar engine to OR2/C2C, or other SEGA games with similar gameplay/gamefeel?
I found that Ghost Squad Evolution (Lindbergh) has much of the same 2D sprite code inside it, that also has debug symbols available too, but sadly is in the same situation as OR2 with only function name symbols included & not any structures, so doesn't really tell us that much. (AFAIK Ghost Squad was released on Chihiro first, and Evolution might be some kind of update like OR2SP, so maybe all the Chihiro titles would share similar code? sadly I haven't really seen any Chihiro games have debug symbols included 😢)
After Burner Climax seems to have some very similar functions/structures for the 2D code as well, but seems they updated it a lot since OR2, so doesn't really match up any more.
(a few places mention that C2C uses Sumo's Sunshine Engine but I haven't really seen much to back that up - the code in All-Stars Racing doesn't really seem to share anything with C2C, Online Arcade does seem to take some code from SEGA Superstars Tennis though, maybe that's where the rumour started)
It could just be of the same design, but I noticed some missions in all stars racing display your mission progress by surrounding a speech bubble with stars in the exact same way that heart attack mode surrounds the request in hearts
Might be worth looking at SEGA Rally Online Arcade and it's other versions such as Revo
