Emmet is not working on Brackets 1.13

I installed manually emmet on Brackets but emmet´s menu is not showing and emmet is not working, as you can see at the picture below:

Seems to have been broken for a long while now. What a shame... Brackets + Emmet would be an awesome combination.

In the hope this will help others, I've discovered a solution I've found after much searching.

When you create a new document in Brackets, Emmet will not work unless the File Type is set to HTML.

The default file type is TEXT. To change this, click in the TEXT tab at the bottom right (scroll down and right if not visible) and select HTML from the list of available file types.

I cannot find how to change the default filetype so that the problem does not arise, but this may be possible.

The solution is to no use Brackets since this editor is abandoned. Consider using something like Sublime Text or VSCode.
