Tiled group doesn't stay maximised when changing displays

When I create a tiled group on a laptop and connect an external monitor with bigger resolution the group keeps the same pixel size and doesn't stretch to full screen. Conversely, when I create a tiled group on the external monitor and then unplug the screen, the group keeps the same pixel size and stretches outside of the laptop display.
