Document Indentation Style Differences

Open ejmr opened this issue 12 years ago • 2 comments

The README mentions the four indentation styles specific to PHP Mode but provides no detailed description of the differences. We basically assume the user is already familiar with the styles of projects like WordPress and Drupal. It will be better if we link to thorough descriptions of those styles so that users can know what to expect if they choose, e.g., to use the symphony2 style.

Having references to style guides will also be useful when it comes to fixing incorrect behavior for any style.

Please resolve this issue! Does any style use real tabs (no spaces)? Is there any way to use them?

EDIT: Looks like WordPress use tabs.

But... when I set php-mode-coding-style to Wordpress, I still get spaces. Am I loosing something?

Thanks!

The style definitions only affect settings used by CC Mode for indentation, and that has no effect on spaces versus tabs. If you want to use tabs you may want to try this: (setq-default indent-tabs-mode t).
