Why the rename of the repository?
Why the rename of the repository into
?
We are in the process of moving to gitlab.
Okay, interesting. The rename confused me a bit. I couldn't find any announcement of this kind, but I'm probably not properly subscribed to the relevant mailinglists then.
Out of mere curiosity, can I read up somewhere on why this migration is taking place?
We need to get everything off of the original AT&T site, and we have little time to handle all of the details and changes involved. Someone familiar with gitlab offered to help with the process.
- We're getting old, and so need to move the account out from under any single individual ownership - hence ellson/graphviz -> graphviz/graphviz
- We need to move everything off of AT&T resources. The repos were already out, but we need to move web sites too.
- We need to be able to point www.graphviz.org at the new website repo.
- We're interested is using the gitlab CI processes. Already in use for the web site. Hopefully soon for automatic builds of the portable sources in: graphviz-xxx.tar.gz
- Change is good, and we have a friend at gitlab.
No criticism is intended of GitHub's excellent service.

I have created a pull request to update README.md here on GitHub to point towards GitLab #1289
