I copied Axarva's dotfiles completely to replicate her setup, and then configured i3-gaps because I don't like xmonad, though it worked properly on xmonad, when I tried I3, it broke an all the widgets lined up on top rather than being separated.

sounds like something to bring up with axarva then, no? There might be some issues with i3 window handling, but I'm afraid without any further details I can't really debug this -- if you can share a minimum reproducible example I'd be able to take a look

Would you like my config files for eww and i3 then or what would you consider to be minimal? I don't really think it's a problem with axarva's dot's since it worked properly in xmonad. I think it could be more of a problem with i3-gaps, as every eww widget I have used has done something wrong, either won't display right, or it sticks to my screen and won't remove even with eww close-all

I3 definitely has some specific issues -- I don't know If I can actually help all that much here specifically, i'll just need to get more deeply into the specifics of how i3 breaks the ewmh spec, I'm afraid

For the moment then, is there a WM that works best right now? I would use xmonad but the config being in Haskell is what's stopping me. Any other that are known to work well?

Bspwm seems to work well for most people, and is relatively easy.

I do think I've seen it at least mostly work on i3 too, tho, so something is definitely weird. I'll need to so some specific testing there....
