Setting for choosing default reply visibility

Open TodePond opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

When I reply to other people's posts, I often want to set the reply as 'unlisted'. Sometimes I accidentally leave it as 'public' which is annoying because I have to delete the post and re-publish it as unlisted.

I would like to be able to choose the default visibility for my replies so that I don't have to manually set it each time.

Something along the lines of...

Default visibility for:
- posts
- replies to my own posts
- replies to other people's posts

Or perhaps more complicated settings would be neeeded? eg: replies to other people's PUBLIC posts vs UNLISTED posts

I'd like to add my support for this feature request

Fedilab has a setting that just makes every reply use "unlisted" by default and that's enough for me.

Giant threads going to public timelines is hugely annoying. Please make replies unlisted by default as soon as you can!

Maybe instead of introducing too many settings, there could be a button with dropdown options for visiblity. (Similar button as what GitHub has in the top-right corner with "stars").

Since it would be embedded into the send button, it would make you think before you click it. Right now, it's separate and I rarely think about it before I click the button.
