Turning off the Spellchecker?

Hey, the Spellchecking in the composing-box doesn't seem to be configurable... i have spellchecking turned of globally as i find it annoying in general, and the text i write is not in English. Did i miss a setting somewhere?

I came here to search exactly for this. Anyone found a way to turn off spellcheck? Im writing in portuguese so its really annoying
