About the difference between Annotator and .md file latex syntax

Hi, thanks for your work or creating such a nice plugin.

But I meet a problem today, it's about latex. It seems that the latex grammar is different between Annotator and .md file, which results that the math formula is different. When it is right in Annotator, it's wrong in .md file, as the images show.

I am not sure if it is the same thing or even related, but I am not able to get latex math to work in the pdf view.

If i render the file as markdown, the latex appears correctly, but, viewed as a pdf, the annotations sidebar, while having a button for inserting latex as in x^2 or $$x^2$$, renders as plain text in the submitted comment/preview.

It would be nice if the preview/comment rendered the latex...

I have not been able to get the annotator to render correctly, as the comment above indicates.
