Wingpanel crashes establising VPN connection

Open armaccloud opened this issue 7 years ago • 1 comments

Hi community,

I hope you can help me with the following issue I have. My wireless network is configured to automatically initiate my VPN connection, as configured through the interface. Two days ago, suddenly the connection is not set up and wingpanel hangs at 100% CPU for one of the cores. Nothing changed for my configuration, so I suspect some update.

Because the connection automatically sets up my VPN, it cannot connect without setting up the VPN, but initiating the VPN crashes wingpanel. When I disable VPN through the tray icon, the connection is not set up. I cannot modify the settings for the wireless connection through the interface because this can only be done when the connection is active. So I'm locked in.

When plugging in the ethernet cable, I do get connected (no automatic VPN configured). As soon as I click a VPN connection, wingpanel crashes again.

Does anyone know how I can

  • troubleshoot this issue
  • if I cannot fix it, disable the automatic VPN through some manual setting (non-gui) for my wireless connection if not possible to fix this

Thanks

Ok, so I have an update to this issue. It appeared my VPN subscription ended. However, what happens is when the automatic VPN (which is turned on for my wireless) can't establish, it crashes and it is not possible to remove the VPN from the settings or get onto wireless without the connection. Seems like a bug to me.
