Web slider problem

Open inad9300 opened this issue 8 years ago • 12 comments

Expected behavior

When a link gets opened in a new tab, the effect of doing this should be the same as when clicking the link normally.

Actual behavior

Accessing https://elementary.io/#showcase-epiphany turns the slider into a real mess.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Access https://elementary.io/
  2. Open "Epiphany >" in a new tab

@btkostner I thought we didn't use these hashes any more?

lewisgoddard avatar Sep 10 '16 19:09 lewisgoddard

Those links should be a data property.

lewisgoddard avatar Sep 10 '16 19:09 lewisgoddard

We don't change the hash anymore, it's still accessible with new links or adding it yourself. I'm guessing the browser is scrolling that content area right so to where that link would be.

@inad9300 can you double check that this fixes the problem?

Sorry, it does not. Trying to open Epiphany in a new tab or directly accessing https://beta.elementary.io/showcase-scroll-fix/#showcase-epiphany results in the same situation I showed you in the screenshot above.

inad9300 avatar Sep 10 '16 20:09 inad9300

That doesn't seem to happen for me there.

lewisgoddard avatar Sep 10 '16 21:09 lewisgoddard

Well, it does to me with the specified system information.

inad9300 avatar Sep 11 '16 12:09 inad9300

@inad9300 I believe something was pushed in regards to this, this maybe elementary/website#1364 Can you check https://beta.elementary.io/master/#showcase-epiphany

I'm sorry to say, but the exact same problem happens, in a very consistent manner.

Looks like this is an old issue, but I recently open the link on Epiphany (elementary OS 0.4.1) and the bug is still there! Maybe I'll take a look tomorrow (bookmarking the issue)

I can confirm this is still happening when using Epiphany, but not Chrome or Firefox.
