Videos does not play an original DVD

Prerequisites

  • [x] I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates.

That wasn't easy to figure out. Looks a bit like https://github.com/elementary/videos/issues/170, but it's not exactly the same.

Describe the bug

The scenario is the following: I have an original DVD with .vob files and I'd like to watch it with Videos. Unfortunately, the screen just stays black and the timeline doesn't start running either.

p.s. Also I'm a bit irritated that after inserting the DVD and starting the Videos App only "Open file" is shown. And not something like "Play from disc".

Unfortunately Videos is not usable for me in this state. :(

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Insert DVD
  2. Click on 'Open file'
  3. Select DVD -> VIDEO_TS -> e.g. VTS_01_0.VOB which should start the DVD menu from the FileChooser Dialog
  4. My laptop makes a charging noise as if it is interacting with the DVD. However, the screen remains black. The timeline is still at 00:00. Then it stays quiet, there seems to be no further interaction between the Videos app and the DVD.

Expected behavior

I insert the DVD, open the Videos app and can directly select that I want to play the DVD that the system has already recognized before. After inserting the DVD, I might be asked directly if I want to play it with Videos. Also, I don't have to click through different subfolders of the DVD, as the application already automatically searches for all the files necessary to play the movie and starts playing them when I press the "Play from disc" button. The individual sub items of the DVD menu are also clickable/selectable to provide access to the bonus materials of the DVD.

Platform Information

  • [ ] I'm using the latest version from git that I've manually compiled
  • [x] I'm using the latest released stable version

Additional context

By the way, playback with the VLC Player runs without problems. But I prefer to use native Videos App ;-)
