Make width and height snap to fit text

Open eprovst opened this issue 6 years ago • 2 comments

Currently we can resize the app however we like. This gives fairly ugly margins on the bottom and right hand side of the window where there is not enough space to fit another character. These margins are especially noticeable in applications that draw their own background (eg. (Neo)Vim) where the background of the terminal is visible in these margins.

It would be better to make the window snap to sizes that fit an exact amount of characters.

gnome-terminal does this, and IMO makes resizing the window awkward. Also, the margins will still be there when tiled or maximized.

Please notice the ugly borders in the on the sides and on the bottom. I think gnome-terminal does this for a reason. Perhaps people should opt-in the pixels resize. Like offer that as an option or at least over line resize as an option.
