Suspend / Turn off screen when idle in less than 5 minutes interval?

Open AndrzejL-eu opened this issue 4 years ago • 0 comments

How can one change the Suspend / Turn off screen settings to interval smaller than 5 minutes ie. turn off screen after 1 minute and suspend the laptop after 2 minutes when idle.

Prerequisites

  • [x] I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates.

I did my fair share of research and after a while I have started a thread at the stackexchage

https://elementaryos.stackexchange.com/questions/24382/suspend-turn-off-screen-when-idle-in-less-than-5-minutes-interval

Waited for few days and with no replies I have decided to visit elementary at freenode IRC.

I have asked my question there and after a while ryanprior replied:

AndrzejL: I didn't know so I did a little research to find out. I'm writing up my findings.

Thanks ryanprior - reading your article was very educational and entertaining,

Feature

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

This is a feature request.

I would like to see more steps / intervals in the power management section of the settings.

Reasoning behind it is pretty simple. Why waste 4 minutes of battery power if you can have the laptop to be suspended after 1 or 2 minutes of idling on battery.

Describe the solution you'd like

At the moment there are 5 minute steps. You can only set the values in 5 minute intervals. Could we please have them in 1 minute intervals? Even if just the first five minutes. What I mean by that is at the moment all you can use is 5 10 15 20 etc. I would love to see something like 1 2 3 4 5 10 15 20 25 as an option.
