wallpaper rotate shuffle timer

Please consider adding the ability to automatically change the wallpaper including shuffle and timing of the change. If it is possible to fade between them that would also be cool.

gala support .xml file as wallpaper, so you can get wallpaper which rotate on timely basis. Gnome-shell allready have it you can try it from gnome-wallpaper package. if that is what you want, we only need to modify the switchboard plug.

FWIW the macOS wallpaper settings panel looks like this: macOS wallpaper settings panel The important bits here are:

  1. Toggling "change picture" (i.e. a wallpaper slideshow)
  2. Picking a folder for the wallpaper slideshow
  3. Setting the length of time to show each picture
  4. Toggling whether or not to randomize the slideshow order

One peculiarity of how macOS does wallpapers is that you don't add individual images; you add folders and/or Photos.app galleries, which you can then pick from or set to run as a slideshow. This way of doing things (adding folders as the default mode) isn't strictly necessary for implementing a wallpaper slideshow, but the wallpaper slideshow does kind of follow naturally from doing so.

(Strictly speaking you can actually add an individual image by drag-and-dropping it into the thumbnail in the top left, but this is a somewhat hidden feature.)
