No network profile switch

Open elementaryBot opened this issue 7 years ago • 2 comments

I have some diferents profiles to ethernet network, but I can not switch to any of this profiles.

Example: Profile1: dhcp and no route to internet. Profile2: static IP. Profile3: dhcp with internet routes.

I want to connect my ethernet port and select the profile I want to use, but this option is not avaiable on network indicator or even in network configuration panel (where you setup this profiles).

Indeed only the first ethernet profile is picked, which means that it's only possible to delete profiles to get wanted one applied.

I understand that mostly there's a single profile used, thus maybe the user interface could be twofolds given how many ethernet profiles there are:

  • if there's a single profile, the interface is left as it currently is
  • if there're more profiles, the interface would be same as wireless's (well except the icons)

I looked into the sources and am a bit confused which approach should be taken. Should be implemented the same way as it is with VPN listings through using specific vapi setting (if so - which?) or is there a different approach for reading profile configurations?
