Add standard system shortcuts to list of conflicts

Open elementaryBot opened this issue 8 years ago • 5 comments

If I change a shortcut to something that is already a shortcut, Switchboard should let me know that there is a conflict and allow me to either revert my change or disable the other shortcut.

What exactly did you do? The behavior you're describing already exists and has been there for a long time.

The keyboard plug does not warn when you overwrite common and de-facto standard shortcuts such as (incomplete):

Ctrl+X cut Ctrl+C copy Ctrl-V paste Ctrl+A select all Ctrl+S save Ctrl+Z undo Ctrl+T open tab Ctrl+W close tab Ctrl+N new window

Also some single keys like arrows, German Umlaute (called a-, o-, udiaeresis) can be assigned, essentially breaking some apps.

Can confirm that the user is notified of the conflict, and it is possible to revert the changes. Issue can be closed.

It does not warn against common shortcuts and some single items though. @danirabbit is these soft warnings something we want completed for this to close or just the conflict warning?
