Can't pair A1314 Apple Keyboard + A1339 Magic Trackpad (plus solution with Terminal)
Hi there, I have a Apple BT Keyboard A1314 and I have been unable to pairing with Elementary OS 5.0 using the regular setting panel.
What happens is that I can see the keyboard appearing in the list. I click on "pair" and it seems to try something but finally it displays 'error can't connect'. I know that normally there should a pin code displayed on the screen of some sort that I need to type on the keyboard to establish pairing, at least that's how it works on Mac. But I don't get any pin displayed. Maybe problem is coming from here.
BUT, I found a solution so I'll share it with you as it might help in getting it fixed.
- Tried with Bluetooth manager, no better luck. - Finally did using terminal and it worked. I followed that https://elementaryos.stackexchange.com/questions/12027/bluetooth-manager-requests-use-of-pin-to-pair-headphones-elementaryos/12041?noredirect=1#comment15329_12041
Here's what I did in the terminal :
bluetoothctl
scan on
pair E8:07:BF:05:7D:BA
trust E8:07:BF:05:7D:BA
connect E8:07:BF:05:7D:BA
quit
I had to do the same with the Apple Magic Trackpad A1339
I have been very luck to find that help, I was on the point to buy other devices. Of course, it should work through the regular panel as most people using Elementary won't go into the terminal (if they find the solution!). As Elementary is aimed at people who are used to MacOS, meaning people with high chances of having such devices, I suggest this fix to be quiet important to fix. If you need more help from me such as log or else, feel free to ask :)
Keep it up, I love Elementary! It's such a great OS! <3
