Organise library folders by date on import or update: YY/MM(/DD)

Shotwell had a very useful feature to organise folders in the library on import in the YY/MM/<filename> or YY/MM/DD/<filename> formats. This feature was apparently stripped in Photos, but I would very much like to see it brought back.

In my search I could not find the rationale for it's removal.

I did find this issue (23) about reorganizing folders and something about symlinks.
