Black screen after install

I'm a little in two minds about raising this because I have so few details it's probably not very helpful. So feel free to just close it if you want.

Anyway, I did an install of Elementary 5.0 Beta 1 yesterday. The boot from usb worked fine, but when I tried to install and boot from my local drive I got through the bootloader (saw the Elementary logo) and just had a black screen. I think it did actually boot because if I pressed the power button, I'd get the Elementary logo again as it shut down. I also looked at the logs in /var/log when booted from the USB again but nothing jumped out as being the problem (unfortunately I didn't save these but I can do if I have time to try again some time - I'm doing it on my main computer though so it's a bit disruptive to wipe the OS and end up with something not working :)) I ended up just going back to 0.4 Juno which I installed in exactly the same way, so I don't think there's anything wrong with my partitioning or bootloader/EFI config/ install location.
