Play packaged music

Open Nine-H opened this issue 7 years ago • 1 comments

these days when I get an album it's a zip or rar off of bandcamp or mediafire: it's how people do releases now. I don't see why noise shouldn't just play the compressed file straight out of the archive. The emulation scene extensively uses 7z and zip archives for storage, and there are multiple libraries available for game developers to create virtual filesystems at runtime out of zip archives. Might take a while to complete but it lets people drag and drop albums straight out of chrome and is way better than dealing with the filesystem to autoimport from zip, plus saves disk for SSD peeps.

I'm not sure it's a great idea performance-wise to store the music as an archive forever, but I agree that it would be convenient to be able to drag and drop an archive and have Music do the right thing as far as extracting it automatically
