Feature Request: CTRL+Click a URL opens browser in the background

I'm a new Mail user so apologies if this has been discussed or there is a setting for this already.

When reading an email it is desirable to have a "ctrl+click" of an URL in the email body open in a new browser window but NOT steal focus from the Mail window. The new browser window should open under Mail and not be focused so that the user can continue on reading the email and deal with the new browser window when they feel the need.

This is how other similar programs work (Thunderbird + Firefox, Apple Mail + any browser, etc.).

I'm uncertain if this is a Mail setting or a Gala setting or elsewhere. Please move this request to elsewhere if it makes sense.
