Another way to monetize apps is to create a sponsorship program that allow individuals and/or companies to sponsor one or more apps.

The elementary OS devs and the dev of an app are contacted, and they agree on:

• amount of money
• period of sponsorship(months, 1 year or another period of time)

The developer decides if it's a good deal for him and if he agrees. In exchange the individual or company can put the name on the app page, for example at the bottom and of the page:

"This app is sponsored by XYZ, if you want to sponsor this app or another app contact us"

The money could be split between elementary OS and the developer at any percentage that is reasonable.
