Smoother transition from greeter to desktop

Currently the greeter shows the wallpaper, everything goes black, and then the desktop wallpaper is shown. It would be better if the wallpaper were shown throughout.

Apparently lightdm-gtk-greeter shows the wallpaper until the desktop is fully loaded.

On my desktop pc the display actually shuts down for a second before displaying the greeter. Do you have the same behaviour or is the screen merely black ?

Let me know if there is anything I can help with, just switched from Ubuntu to ElementaryOS and loved it, but this black screen appearing for about 10 seconds after unlocking is affecting my workflow.
