Searching for a file in the current folder and moving it elsewhere results in a File not Found screen

Open o-alquimista opened this issue 1 month ago • 1 comments

What Happened?

Screenshot of the file manager showing a blank screen with the following words in the center: File not Found. The file selected no longer exists.

This is what shows up instead of the folder's contents.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to a folder containing some files.
  2. Start a search for one of its files, and select any of them from the search results.
  3. Cut the selected file and paste it in another folder.
  4. Navigate back to the folder from step 1.

Expected Behavior

To restore functionality, restart Files. You can also start a new search for any other files in that directory.

It seems that Files is still trying to search for that file you just moved out; but since the file is no longer there, it gets stuck on that "File not Found" screen.

Confirmed, but only if you navigate back using the pathbar as per the video or by a sidebar bookmark. Navigating back using the browser buttons or keyboard shortcut does not result in the error. So a workround to escape is the navigate away and then back using the browser back button.

Reloading the view does not help.
