adding event fails silently when caldav server is down

My main calendar is in a CALDAV server (davical, but I don't think it matters). It went down for a bit, but maya did not give any errors, mostly it just didn't show any events from that calendar. But worse, when I added a new event to that calendar, maya let me do it (which is good) but then just failed silently and those events disappeared.

I'm using maya-calendar 0.3.1.1+r798+pkg70~ubuntu0.3 in elementaryOS.
