After submitting payment update is not installed

Describe the bug

I just paid for one app update twice because after I submitted my payment, no password prompt appeared, no installation proceeded and no email arrived on the first trial. I had one payment issue before (paying and succesfully installing app, but the payment was not deduced from my account) so I assumed it was a similar glitch. Only after checking my bank I found I actually paid twice. Only one email confirmation arrived so far.

Moreover, the update still didn't get through - I had to use apt in terminal to actually update the app.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Try to update some paid app that you didn't pay for yet
  2. Submit the payment form.
  3. No password prompt appears and/or the update is not installed.

Expected behavior

Proceed with update after payment.

Few minutes later also the second email confirmation arrived.

The main issue is that the update was not performed.

That's definitely not good. I don't have any debugging steps for you at this time, but I wanted to make sure to let you know that if you'd like to pursue a refund you'll have to contact the app developer. I'm unable to issue refunds on their behalf.

I'm not worried so much about the money right now, I'm happy to support open source devs, especially at this crazy time. I'm a student, so I cannot give much, but I think every little bit helps. And I'm really thankfull that elementary makes it so easy to pay developers :)

As I said, the main issue in my view is that the update failed and I had to use terminal to complete it (all other updates went through before the glitch with the paid app). The AppCenter seems a little under the weather lately, with random reloading and lists of apps jumping around when I try to run updates, so maybe I'll try some debugging in the coming days, maybe something will turn up.
