It is not possible by now : you have to delete the message and to send a new one.

Maybe you can do it like wikis does. Add history to a message that has been edited.

Ah I just saw the RiotX announcement and RiotX codebase here https://github.com/vector-im/riotX-android/blob/develop/README.md It's plausible that this feature may end up there. That is an equally, perhaps better, outcome.

As posted over here matrix-org/matrix-spec-proposals#3218, the official android client (this repo right here) was the only one left behind when the official apps released the feature. Seems the incomplete RiotX got it instead, which I feel was the wrong decision as it doesn't have feature parity with the official client. @bpostlethwaite

Yes, it is implemented in RiotX and will not be implemented in Riot
