Filters on EXI don't allow me to spot important events and access important rooms

Steps to reproduce

I never use filters on EXI because they don't solve my problem or are not accessible enough. My problems are:

1. I want to immediately know if I have a new mention
2. I want to immediately know if I have a new invite
3. I want to quickly be able to access the important subset of rooms for me, ie a. Favourites b. People

#3951 #3952 and #3953 are related, but this issue is more around the UX itself.

Step to reproduct: I want to quickly access the most important rooms for me

Outcome

What did you expect?

1. That Invite and mention filters tells me if there is new rooms in these categories
2. That Favourites and people filters tell me if I have unread messages in these categories
3. That filters are ordered in a way which allow me to bring up the important rooms rapidly so I don't have to type in the search bar every time or scrool for hours.

For me the important rooms are: (in order)

1. Rooms where I'm mentioned
2. Invites
3. Favourites
4. People

What happened instead?

• I miss invites because it's off the screen and it doesn't tell me if I have messages
• I miss mentions because I can't filter on them nor pin them to the top and they get lost in the unread rooms
• I miss important DMs because they're lost into the rest of the rooms and the people section doesn't tell me that I have new DMs
• I miss important messages in my Favourite rooms because the favourite section doesn't tell me that I have unread messages
