"Unread" filter does not show unread rooms.
Steps to reproduce
I don't generally use filters in the EX room list, because they behave very confusingly. Given EW looks to be about to sprout the same room list system, going to file them here (against EXI in case they are iOS specific issues; can always move to element-meta if needed)
- Filter roomlist by 'Unreads'
- See a handful of rooms with green dots (some of which also have green @ symbols)
Meanwhile, my account has hundreds of unread rooms.
Outcome
What did you expect?
I expect a filter labelled "Unreads" to show you your unread rooms.
What happened instead?
It's unclear what it's showing me instead. Is this unread notifications? If so, my notifs are "notify for People, Mentions & Keywords". So perhaps I'd expect DMs and mentions to have a green dot, and Mentions to have a green @ too? But that doesn't seem to be the case - e.g. @room has no @. And meanwhile mentions in E2EE are missing.
It feels very strange that it wouldn't just show me the rooms i haven't yet read.

+1 Unread filter only shows green dots and @ green dots, not the grey dot unreads. I expect Unread to show me all unread rooms. I suspect that showing me the green dots are probably the useful thing to do though, but in that case it shouldn't be called unread.
Just to throw in my two cents: Agree calling it 'unread' doesn't describe the experience. Though I heavily use the unreads filter as a way of showing the green dots, which are the messages I've chosen to be notified about in the notification settings. I've found this really useful to cut out the noise.
So feels to me like there are two filters needed here:
- Green dot / notifications
- Unread messages
