sss: room list entirely disappeared & froze

- Using app as normal
- Went back to room list
- Room list was blank
- UI froze; had to force quit:

just got this again on 690. repro steps may be as simple as loading the app from a "blank" push which didn't decrypt? then going into a room once synced and then out again.
...and just got it again. this is feeling like a reproducible regression now.
i have had this about 4 times so far today on 691. the only additional detail i have spotted is that if the roomlist was previously filtered, the filter text is shown (but the app still freeze solid and the roomlist doesn't render).
i haven't seen this again since ~692. (although i might have been triggering it more readily due to being on shit data)
