Sync doesn't happen on slow/metered network
Steps to reproduce
- Try to connect with slow internet over a shared data connection (metered and with login through a captive portal)
Note that the OS was not convinced that there was data available through the connection. Legacy Element app and other chat apps synced ok.
Outcome
What did you expect?
The sync at least attempts to happen or I can trigger a sync to attempt (e.g. slide down at the top of the room list or slide up from the bottom of the timeline) If I receive a notification with message content, I can see that message in the timeline for that room
What happened instead?
I occasionally got new message notifications, but the sync did not happen at all.

@jmartinesp in that case he mentions that leaving the room and coming back occasionally caused messages to appear. In my case, afaik, EX didn't attempt to sync a single time over 10 days despite having data available if it had tried.
I occasionally got new message notifications, but the sync did not happen at all.
It happens to me too. The culprit is the SS proxy for what I'm concerned. It happens not only on slow connections but randomly during the day. The Rust team cannot do anything about that sadly as far as I understand the problem (after debugging sessions) :-(.
I need to do more debugging, but this also appears to happen on SSS.
@Half-Shot can you share a rageshake of this problem with SSS?
This issue is stale. We did not receive more reports about it and we cannot reproduce the issue. I'm closing it. Please reopen with a rageshake it it happens again.
