Animations.
Somehow we don't have an issue to track the process of finally glossing up the UI with some animations. Some obvious ones are:
- [ ] Slide messages into the timeline as they are sent. Typing notifs would similarly slide into view when being 'sent' rather than living in the status bar, a la iMessage. @lukebarnard1 had a PR for this but I can't find it now?
- [ ] Hoverovers on buttons (which the Status theme has, after a fashion)
- [ ] Fading in images (perhaps?)
- [ ] Fading in error messages
- [ ] Fading in/out or dissolving between registration/login screens
- [ ] Animated transitions on toggle buttons
- [ ] Animations when changing tint(!?)
- [ ] Transitions when minimising/maximising widgets
- [ ] Transitions when going in and out of VoIP calls
- [ ] Smooth scrolling when jumping to a permalink (if it's in the scrollback buffer)
- [ ] Fade in/out on showing tooltips and context menus
- [ ] Prettier spinner (especially on dark bg)

https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk/pull/728 is the one. I'm not sure if it's useful any more.
Maybe also have something like the jumping dots that show up next to the typing notifications in Discord.
This hasn't seen any traction in a really long time and by now is probably superseded by the UI refresh / Compound adoption project anyway.
this is still a valid hitlist of animations we largely lack. reopening it to get it back on the radar rather than arbitrarily hidden.
